The Antonio Gandusio Theatre is a personal project and merit of one of Rovinj mayors from the late years of the 19th century – Nicolo de Califfi.
He created the blueprint himself, while the building was completed in 1854. The Antonio Gandusio Theatre is a true small Baroque gem and its located just a few metres from the main town market of Rovinj.
The theatre received its name from one of the greatest theatre and film comedians of the Italian Nuovecento – Antonio Gandusio, born in Rovinj in 1873.
Even today, the Antonio Gandusio Theatre is a very popular place where visitiors can enjoy different cultural shows like operas, operettas, conventions and political events, musical and theather happenings.
